Tuesdays with Dorie: Peanut-Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Paris Style from Baking with Dorie

(if you’re reading this via email, not sure why this didn’t send yesterday on Tuesday… Anyway, it’s here now!0

This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe is Peanut-Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Paris Style from Dorie Greenspan’s Baking with Dorie.

These cookies had a LOT of steps if you followed the recipe to a T and didn’t read the options to make it less fussy (ahem!) but basically you need to:

1. Make a praline spread and some praline “dust” (basically caramelized peanuts blitzed into a fine powder and a spread) – could have used cookie butter (speculoos spread) had I read the cheat notes….

2. Make the peanut cookie dough (that rests in the fridge at least overnight)

3. Bake the cookies and top them with some of the spread after baking and then a few chop chips or chopped chocolate – so these are NOT chocolate chip cookies, there’s just some chocolate on top!

So yeah, a lot of steps to fancy up a peanut cookie…

Personally, while I love the PB and choc combo, I’m actually not a huge fan of peanut cookies so I made a small batch (4 cookies) only for a neighbour for whom this is a favourite combo. She LOVED them. I tasted them and they were, you know, ok! A lot of steps though!

  1. I also did not notice that Dorie said you could make the cookies without the spread too. Anyway we loved these, best cookies so far for us. Glad that your neighbor liked them.
