This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe from Baking Chez Moi was the perfect re-entry into baking after vacation. Basically an orange-poppyseed loaf, this recipe was developed by Dorie for her husband Michael, after he and a friend brought some back from a café (after which the loaf is named) and asked her to replicate it.
It’s a simple loaf and therefore simple to minify. I halved the recipe and it made enough for two mini loaf pans’ worth. I baked this for around 5o minutes – might have been a tad overcooked so next time I might look in on it a few minutes earlier. I added extra orange zest to the recipe (which you can see in the cut loaf below) and liked the extra flavour – when something is citrusy I like to see the zest, you know?
This is the perfect snackable loaf – I gifted one to a neighbour and kept one for us. Great to pop in lunches (Neil) or to snack on at the end of the first long day back at work (me). A nice change from a classic lemon-poppysed loaf and one I’ll keep in mind as it’s not clementine season and I have a fresh new supply of poppyseeds!
