Welcome to Day 11 of
The Twelve Days of Holiday Treats!
Once again, this year, from December 1st-12th I’ll post a new holiday treat recipe every day – inspiration for your holiday entertaining!
The recipes I’m sharing are small-er batch – each recipe makes 1-dozen or a few more smaller-sized treats that are simple to prepare and that use everyday ingredients and equipment so hopefully you’ll be able to whip up any of these on a whim. Check out the treats from 2019 – 2023 at the bottom of this post too for more inspiration!
Never let it be said that I *only* post sweet treats – I also love me a good apéritif snack! Today’s recipe couldn’t be easier – bonus is that you can make them and slice the dough, then freeze the dough until you’re ready to bake. Perfect to have on hand for last-minute guests!
Cheese Crackers

Easy cheesy crackers!
Ingredients
- 37g (1/4 cup) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch Piment d’Espelette or Paprika
- 30g (2 tablespoons/) cold salted butter
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated parmesan
- 20g (1/4 cup) sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- splash water
Instructions
- Put the flour, baking powder and Piment d’Espelette in a mini food processor fitted with a metal blade and pulse 3-4 times to just combine the ingredients.
- Add the butter and pulse a few times until the mixture has some pieces the size of peas/ corn kernels and some smaller pieces.
- Add the cheese and pulse until the cheese is fully incorporated. If you need, add a splash of water until the dough comes together. The mixture will be quite sticky. The dough might ball up around the blade of the food processor.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and bring it together gently with your hands.
- Form the dough into a log about 4cm (2 inches) in diameter and wrap it tightly in plastic.
- Chill for at least one hour in the fridge. This dough can stay in the fridge for a few days, or frozen for about a month. Thaw in fridge overnight before using.
- Remove the dough from the fridge.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Slice the dough into approximately 16 crackers (5mm/ 1/4 inch thick).
- Bake for 14 minutes, or until the crackers are lightly golden brown on top, firm to the touch and cooked on the bottom (flip one over to check it’s cooked and crispy).
- Place the baking tray with the crackers on a wire cooling rack and allow them to cool slightly. These taste great slightly warm or at room temperature.
When you are ready to bake:
Notes
Cookies will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days.
