The recipe is essentially a fancy ice cream sandwich – made with Dorie’s brioche (uniquely made in coffee cans), homemade ice cream and salted butter caramel sauce.
Now, on the day I was planning on serving this, I looked in my fridge and saw some leftover salted butter caramel sauce from when we made it for the Warm Chocolate Cakes with Salted Butter Caramel Sauce from My Paris Kitchen (I KNOW – how on earth was there leftover? SUCH self control!). I also had some brioche from my organic food box delivery that week AND some delightful vanilla ice cream from our local ice cream parlour.
So, yeah, sorry, I totally cheated on making any of this from scratch (except the sauce but I didn’t make it expressly for this post). But you know what? Sometimes that’s ok!
