Tuesdays with Dorie: Mulled Wine Jammers from Dorie’s Cookies

Dorie Greenspan's mulled wine jammer cookies on a slate serving tray. This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe from Dorie’s Cookies is one I was excited to make: Mulled Wine Jammers.

Dorie fans will know that “jammers” are a vanilla sablé cookie topped with some sort of jam and then a streusel. If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you’ll know that Mulled Wine Jam (a quick, small batch version) was one of my 12 Days of Holiday Treats so (sorry, Dorie!) I used that recipe to top these cookies.

Closeup of Mulled Wine Jammers.I baked a half-batch of the dough for 12 cookies but actually still have some dough left – I think I rolled it too thin, although these are pretty chunky cookies. Never mind, I’ll make a few more with the little bit of jam and streusel left too!

This is a recipe that needs a little bit of time as every element needs to be cool or chilled before you use it. I made the jam the day before but fast-tracked everything else – putting both the streusel and the cookie dough in the freezer for 90 minutes before I assembled the cookies and it seemed to work ok!

  1. Delightful. But I mean that crumbly pastry with butter culd be gobbled on its own, really…

Add in the mulled wine jam (truly a French vin chaud made with Buzet red wine, Banyuls, Armagnac, Cointreau…) and these are devilishly awesome.
