This week’s recipe for Cook the Book Fridays comes from Dorie Greenspan’s latest cookbook, Everyday Dorie and was just the comfort food we needed this week. Dorie calls it a “Dark Chocolate Pudding” but in reality, it’s just chocolate crème pâtissière (sssh! YES you can just eat the crème pat by the spoonful!).
There’s not much to say about this except YUM. I made 1/2 the quantity, totally intending to use it to fill some éclairs and profiteroles I had made last weekend but as soon as I tasted it, I put it in four small ramekins for desserts. It’s rich so you don’t need much (around 1/3 cup) even though you *could* eat a lot more ; )
It’s been “a week” (that felt like a year). These pots of creamy goodness were a highlight. Thank goodness for Dorie.
Get the recipe for Dorie Greenspan’s Dark Chocolate Pudding on page 294 of Everyday Dorie. There’s also a version of it here.

Yum and yum…
I would willingly trade “your week” in Canada for “my week” in the United States. What a mess. I was very happy to avoid the politics, turn the television and social media off and just make Dorie’s Dark Chocolate Pudding. I’m not a big chocolate lover so most of this yumminess was wasted. Take care and if you celebrate Valentine’s Day at your house, Happy, Happy.
Making the chocolate pudding and enjoying it while it lasts are the simple focus for the time being. Love the richness and smoothness of your pudding.
Yours looks so decadently delicious! Hoping next week is better!
Yum is the right word. Loved this one.
these were excellent. and i like your spoons!
