This month’s Cookies and Kindness recipe also happens to be one of the picks for Tuesdays with Dorie this month! Some of you may remember that last year, I introduced you to Dorie Greenspan’s latest project, #cookiesandkindness.
The aim: To make the world sweeter.
The method: Bake/Share/Post
This month, she’s chosen a recipe from Dorie’s Cookies that’s perfect for sharing on St Valentine’s Day anytime. In the recipe for Dorie’s Valentine’s Day share-a-heart cookies, she says:
I love the idea of a big cookie, a really big cookie, one that can be put in the center of the table within easy reach of everyone and picked at and broken and cracked and nibbled while the conversation keeps going.
and suggests making two large hearts and some smaller cookies which are perfect to serve for a sharing platter.
I made the entire batch of cookie dough (it’s rare!) with the intent of sharing them all! I sent some along to Neil’s curling club bake off and – gasp – there were leftovers (what is wrong with those people?) so I simply packed them up and took them along to work yesterday morning where people couldn’t stop eating them. Three people asked me for the recipe. People said the plain ones didn’t look like much but when they bit into the buttery cocoa goodness, they changed their minds. These are GOOD cookies, friends! Not too sweet, just chocolately enough. And, of course, they lend themselves beautifully to sprinkles!

Really nice photo and follow up story of who the cookies fed.
Thanks so much 🙂
Love the sprinkled ones!
I’m all about the sprinkles 🙂
I love a simple cookie that wows.
Right? 😉
Glad to hear that these are good. The ones with sprinkles are so cute. Like you, I think I’ll make all of these cookies small.
I really like them small – means you can have two 😉
These cookies put a smile on your face. They look so cute, with or without the sprinkles. I’m totally into sharing these lovely bites.
They do put a smile on your face, don’t they?
Love your cookies plain and decked out…they all look lovely. I am going to make these next week for Mark for Valentine’s Day and still trying to decide big or small…now that I’ve seen yours, I’m thinking the small ones are adorable.
The small ones are definitely good for sharing!
Leftovers are shocking. Glad they were a hit at your work. I look forward to making them next.
I think there was ALOT of sweet at that bake-off!
What a good idea minifying the cookies! I haven’t made this dough before so I’m looking forward to it. I love love the look of the sprinkles on the hearts, very fun and whimsical.
I put sprinkles everywhere I can !
Leftovers??? If I hadn’t shipped mine to our girls, my husband would have eaten every one!
