Happy “World Nutella Day″ ! Yup, it’s a thing! Originally created by Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy and Michelle from Bleeding Espresso, World Nutella Day is a day to celebrate, get creative with, and most importantly, eat Nutella. In 2015, Sara transferred World Nutella® Day to Ferrero (the makers of Nutella®) to help it live on and grow for years to come.

It’s the 20th iteration of this auspicious day and my 17th year participating.
In 2010 I made a Nutella cheesecake, in 2011 I made Nutella lamingtons, in 2012 I went French with Nutella macarons craquelés, in 2013, I made Nutella truffle pops. in 2014 I made a flourless hazelnut-chocolate Nutella-inspired cake, in 2015 I made a chocolate-hazelnut smoothie in 2016, I made Nutella éclairs, in 2017 I made Nutella pots de crème, in 2018 I made Chocolate -Hazelnut Financiers, in 2019, I made Nutella Twists and Palmiers, in 2020 I made Chocolate Hazelnut Bliss Bites in 2021, I made a Nutella Hot Chocolate, in 2022, I made a No-Bake Pot de de Crème , in 2023 I made No-Bake Nutella Cheesecake Pots, in 2024 I made Thin, Chewy Six-Ingredient Nutella Cookies, and last year I made Mini Nutella Ganache Tarts.

This year, to celebrate, I’ve got a simple recipe with just a handful of ingredients to share – Easy Nutella Puff Pastry Pockets!

This recipe only needs three ingredients (five if you want to add the chocolate drizzle!) – puff pastry, Nutella and an egg. What could be easier?

These are a delightful after-school snack, dessert or even breakfast – and they are best eaten on the day they are made (hence the small batch – they don’t keep particularly well). So yeah, I *am* giving you permission to eat them all on the same day ; )

Want to up your Nutella game on World Nutella Day? Because really, there *are* other ways to enjoy Nutella than just straight out of the jar with a spoon 😉
Let’s get baking!
Easy Nutella Puff Pastry Pockets
Easy puff pastry pockets filled with Nutella!
Ingredients
For the pockets
- Approx. 250g puff pastry dough, thawed but still cold to the touch
- Approx. 1/3 cup (80ml) Nutella, gently warmed in a microwave for about 15 seconds (helps with spreadability)
For the eggwash to assemble:
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
For the topping (optional):
- Melted chocolate
- Chopped hazelnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375˚F/ 190˚C.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper
- Roll out the puff pastry until it’s roughly a 11 x 17-inch (28cm x 44cm) rectangle. Cut the rectangle into 8 equal smaller rectangle shapes.
- Brush the edges of 1 small rectangle with eggwash and use a 1 1/2 tablespoon scoop to portion Nutella into the centre of the pastry square.
- Brush the edges of another small rectangle with eggwash and place it, eggwash sides facing each other, on top of the Nutella.
- Gently use your fingers to press any air out of the pastry and then use your fingertips to seal the pastry together.
- Use a fork to gently crimp the edges of the pastry all around and place it on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Continue in this manner until you have assembled all the pockets.
- Brush the top of each pocket pastry with the remaining eggwash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
- (If topping) Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of each pastry and sprinkle a few chopped hazelnuts on top.
- Enjoy at warm room temperature the day they are made.
