This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe comes from Baking with Dorie. Goat Cheese-Black Pepper Quick Bread is a great little recipe to have in your back pocket for when guests drop in for afternoon apéros!
Basically it’s a savoury quick bread which, if you haven’t tried you should! It comes together so fast because for the most past, it’s got pantry and fridge staple ingredients – flour, baking powder, salt + pepper, eggs, milk, olive oil, honey and lemon zzest. the only ingredient you might need to shop for is the goat cheese and mint (I used parsely flakes because that’s what I had on hand). I halved the recipe and divided it between two of these mini-loaf tins (<<< affiliate link but I love my mini loaf tins!).
It’s also a one-bowl recipe – I mixed the wet ingredients in the bowl then placed it on my digital scale (<<< affiliate link but I LOVE my kitchen scale) and sifted the dry ingredients directly in. It’s a thick batter that the goat cheese just barely folds into and it’s a bit tough to get it into the tins but it settles as it baked into a lovely loaf with a crunchy golden topping.
A perfect snack with a cold glass of rosé (or, in Neil’s case, a perfect car snack as he headed home in parking-lot-type traffic from the Niagara region after seeing the total eclipse yesterday!).

You are right, this was perfect…and so quick/easy to put together. I used parsley as well as I had fresh parsley on hand and mint is sort of iffy for me in savory recipes. Loved the result. Thank you for the links…I am going to order some of those mini loaf pans as it would have been nice to do a couple of those and have one for later in the freezer or to gift around. Great photo of that bread!
I am glad the Neil got to see the eclipse. My husband also said that he would have liked a glass of wine with this, maybe next time.
Glad it was a winner and it was useful for the eclipse viewing day!
Nice thick slices, yum!
Yes, this was delicious! Whether as a snack in the go or with a glass of wine, it’s great.
Yes, any recipe you can whip up in a single bowl and taste as good is the very definition of a winning recipe.
yes to this and rosé!
