Typically I’d choose to “minify” a big dessert like this but I always like the opportunity to make a full-sized dessert to share with others ­čÖé

This is actually quite a simple dessert – you make a sweet tart shell, then you layer some mascarpone which is mixed with egg whites and yolks and a bit of sugar on the bottom of the shell. On top of that you layer ladyfingers that you’ve soaked in a mixture of rum and coffee. It’s a good idea to make sure you know how many of the ladyfingers you’ll need before you start soaking them…

The tart needs to chill in the fridge for a food few hours so that it’s “cuttable” (straight after it’s made it will be too soft) which meant that by the time we ate this, the light was very low and it was hard to get a decent photo…
