Les Petits Chefs decorate cookies for Hallowe’en with Adell Shneer

Flooding pumpkin cookies with Adell Shneer on eatlivetravelwrite.comThe Petits Chefs were lucky boys this week as they welcomed Adell Shneer back into the lab to show them how to decorate sugar cookies! Adell (who has worked with the boys on a number of occasions before) is both a friend and cookie decorator extraordinaire and I invited her to come in and show them some professional cookie decorating techniques. This was Adell’s EIGHTH visit to the school to work with the boys in cooking club (some of the boys in the club have been lucky enough to work with her before!) and understandably, she’s a very popular guest!

Any session with Adell begins with a lesson about mixing colours and the colour wheel. The boys get to choose their own colours and they end up with a whole host of different colours to use…

And boy, did they show us their creativity !

Even the day before Hallowe’en, they boys were super focussed!)

Some boys stayed with solid colours and simple decorations…

Despite the colourful icing choices, a few really were stuck on a black and white theme…

We’re so grateful to Adell for taking the time to come and work with the boys. Even the boys who say they’re “not good” at art (totally not true, because I’ve seen what they produce!), created gorgeous cookies I know they were proud of. Not sure their parents saw many of these (even though the icing is supposed to set for 24 hours!) so hopefully they take a look here!  The focus and concentration the boys demonstrated makes me wonder if cookie decorating can somehow become part of my French curriculum LOL!

I would indeed! Those are some mightily impressive cookies. No wonder not a single one made it home for Mr. Neil. 🙂

(And kudos for remembering the apostrophe in Hallowe’en, Miss Mardi.) 😉

Wow, indeed. This is not just decoration: this is master class in the arts. Fantastic. Well done LPCs.

What amazing cookies from the petite chefs. Maybe I should re-visit my cake decorating days but nah – easier to look at the excellent work here.
