This is part of my Summer Reads series where I’ll be sharing book (and other reading) recommendations – a series of “not just cookbooks”.

The case for newsletters
Something a little different for Summer Reads today! Not everyone can commit time to reading in the summer. People with children at home from school, people with busy travel plans, people who maybe read a lot for their work. Or maybe you only get to read at lunch time so you don’t have long enough to get into a good book. I know that when I am overly tired, even a really good book might not be able to keep me awake – I need short snippets of digestible information and that’s where a good newsletter comes in!
But wait, I don’t want to clutter my inbox even more!
I get it and I learned a smart tactic from Neil. He has a folder in his email inbox called “Newsletters” and moves newsletters in there as they arrive. If you have Gmail, you can label emails as they come in and train them to bypass your inbox and go directly to a folder like that too! This way, you’ll have a bunch of bite-sized reads at the ready when you are! Of course it might mean you end up with a backlog but at least you’ll know you will always have something of your choice to read!
Newsletters I’m loving right now (and some magazines!)
Ann Mah’s newsletter – recipes, travel tips, book giveaways and recommendations, plus sneak peeks of her new books (cover reveals etc…)
David Lebovitz’s newlsetter – food and travel and so much more! Podcasts, interviews, exclusive recipes and updates on David’s latest apartment renos!
La Cuisine Paris newsletter – your “need to know” info from Paris – loads of culture and lots of food info too!
Dorie Greenspan’s newsletter – I mean, it’s Dorie so…. She’s also got the option to subscribe to join the “Playing Around” baking group!
Lindsey at Lost in Cheeseland’s newsletter – the “new Paris” and beyond

Janice from The Bake School’s newsletter – recipes, baking 101 posts, and baking science
A Week in Paris/ The Real Emily in Paris – thoughts from Paris from a chef, writer and mum to three (and the adorable Noisette!)
Eat, Sleep, Wild by Monica Shaw. Monica’s aim is “to inspire outstanding, delicious, and sustainable adventures in wild places across the UK”. Follow her as she embarks on a new life in Scotland!
Dianne Jacob’s newsletter – from the author of “Will Write for Food”, curated links about food writing trends and best practices from around the web
The Good Life France Magazine – not a newsletter but a 4 x year magazine featuring the best of France.
Longer Tables with José Andrès – I’ll let the amazing Andrès speak for himself here:
A meal is never just a plate of food. It has the power to change the world, to bring people together, to tell the story of who we are and where we’re going.
That’s why I started talking about longer tables when others wanted to build higher walls. We need to talk to each other, to enjoy our differences, to celebrate our diversity … not to push people away because they look or sound different.
Our challenges may be complicated, but the solutions are sometimes very simple.
Longer Tables, the name of this newsletter, is my way of saying that we are not Democrats or Republicans, Americans or immigrants, meat eaters or vegans. We are truly the people of the world, who cook and eat and drink together.
And, I mean, more modestly, there’s this one:
What about you – what newsletters are YOU enjoying right now?
