Nutella. It’s been a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I was a child. I still remember my first taste – I must have been about 8 years old and we came across it at the local deli – a deli in the true sense of the word – very exotic at the time and filled with a lot of imported products – mostly from Italy. This chocolate flavoured sandwich spread ranks up there with the best childhood food discoveries and my first taste was on fresh, white bread. There’s still nothing like it.
Nutella in our house didn’t last long. Some of us (I’m looking at you mum) learned to eat the middle of the jar away while leaving the outside layer intact so the jar looked full but was, in fact, empty. A jar of Nutella around the Michels household didn’t stand a chance.
Nowadays I keep a small jar on hand for baking but don’t dare keep a large one in the house because, quite honestly, it still wouldn’t last long. A spoonful (or two…) of Nutella with an afternoon coffee is a great afternoon pick-me-up! Nutella was also a big part of the years I lived in Paris – there’s nothing quite like a Nutella crêpe (and if you’re a poor student/ teacher, it’s a great budget treat!).
Over the years on this blog, I have shared a number of favourite recipes using Nutella (click on the titles to get the recipe):

Introducing the Nutella Crêperie at Longo’s
If you live in Toronto, you’ll be pleased to learn that Longo’s and Nutella® are joining forces with the introduction of the Nutella Crêperie at Longo”s. The first of its kind in Canada, the pop-up crêpe kitchen will travel to Longo’s stores around the GTA, offering shoppers the opportunity to purchase warm crêpes with Nutella®, made fresh to order.
Given that Longo’s and Ferrero Canada have a shared Italian heritage, as well as a long-standing relationship, this collaboration was a natural one. The first stop on the Nutella Crêperie by Longo’s tour is at the Longo’s Maple Leaf Square store on May 7, 2015. The full tour schedule is available here.
So what are you waiting for – check out the location nearest to you and get your chocolate-hazelnut-y fix today!
BONUS? Win a $100 Nutella prize pack (including a cool, personalised Nutella jar!). Details here.
Disclosure: I received compensation in exchange for spreading the word about the pop-up crêperie. All opinions (and my love for Nutella) are my own.

I need to move to Toronto!
Love it, Mardi.
Well we Michels, we do love our Nutella!
Following the recent death of the second Mr Nutella, rumours circulated Nutella was being discontinued 🙁
This gives me faith Nutella is round for some time yet 🙂
Nutella will be around for a LONG time if I have anything to do with it!
Because your Nutella loving tendencies are well established, I can unhesitatingly say that the fact that you were actually given money to spread (get it?) the Nutella gospel is fantastic. That’s like my dream job when I stop and think…
Right? I mean, really, what is more perfect (except perhaps my mum writing about Nutella!)
