Cook the Book Fridays: Lightning-Fast Tahini Pork from Everyday Dorie

Dorie Greenspan LIghtening Fast Tahini Pork from Everyday Dorie on eatlivetravelwrite.comThis week’s recipe for Cook the Book Fridays comes from Dorie Greenspan’s latest cookbook, Everyday Dorie and it’s a fabulous fast weeknight dinner that would totally work as a meal for a dinner party – just don’t tell your guests how easy it is!

It’s pork tenderloin which I’ve never prepared any other way than roasting it so this was a revelation – doesn’t take too long to cook and it’s SO flavourful and tender! The pork is cut into cubes and rubbed with ground cumin, chile powder, turmeric and salt and the sauce in this dish is tahini (sesame seed paste), lemon juice, honey, cider vinegar and water. SO easy! Comes together in under 30 minutes in a wok or skillet. We served with sautéed kale and sprinkled the lot with sesame seeds and steamed rice. SO GOOD! And actually even better the next day!

  1. I couldn’t believe how fast this came together. I just made it tonight, but there were leftovers. I’m glad to know it’ll be even better tomorrow!

  2. Ok, seriously – how gorgeous is this recipe in your pot ????? Such a fun recipe and your are so right about it being perfect for guests as well as a fab week night meal.

  3. In fact, this came together SO quickly, I hadn’t even chosen a bottle of wine out of the cellar before Mardi was plating!

(I was oscillating between white and red. In the end, I grabbed an Ontario Beamsville Bench Riesling that was staring my in the face, and tossed in a couple of my whisky stones to chill a bit beyond cellar temp. A nice pairing.)

This was flavourful but also muted – in a positive way. All those flavours one associates with the MIddle East, but lifted.

    A definite winner.

  4. Have made. Haven’t posted. But everything you are saying, I say, Ditto. I wasn’t enthused when I read this recipe but determined to try and was rewarded with another Dorie-winner. You’re right about leftovers, more delicious.

  5. Just made this today. It is delightful! The sauce is lemony, spicey, and has a hint of nuttiness. Wish there was more sauce. Garnished with toasted sesame seeds and cilantro. Served with Jasmine rice. Made it for myself so there will be leftovers.
