This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe from Baking Chez Moi was one I chose to share with good friends in the Tarn whose house we were spending the night at over the weekend. Typically I’d choose to “minify” a big dessert like this but I always like the opportunity to make a full-sized dessert to share with others 🙂
This is actually quite a simple dessert – you make a sweet tart shell, then you layer some mascarpone which is mixed with egg whites and yolks and a bit of sugar on the bottom of the shell. On top of that you layer ladyfingers that you’ve soaked in a mixture of rum and coffee. It’s a good idea to make sure you know how many of the ladyfingers you’ll need before you start soaking them…
You want them packed in tight so don’t be afraid to break them up and fit them in like a puzzle! The tart needs to chill in the fridge for a food few hours so that it’s “cuttable” (straight after it’s made it will be too soft) which meant that by the time we ate this, the light was very low and it was hard to get a decent photo…
