  1. I had the pleasure to listening to the new book on CD en route to the Food Bloggers of Canada Conference. I know, only a real food nut would listen to someone read recipes, particularly when they had not had lunch!

I was struck by her story about a simple steak sandwich making all the difference when she was down. That resonates both in the past and likely in the future for me. Simple, comforting, tasty.

Having heard part of the book, I’d like to have a copy on my shelf.

And yes, I’m ready for my skill-testing question Ms Mardi.

  2. A simple Caprese salad with ripe, summer tomatoes, fresh basil, buffalo mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar is an explosion of flavour and always brings back the greatest sense memories. Even on the coldest winter’s day, just thinking about that flavourful combination takes me back to lazy summer afternoons spent in the sunshine, glass of wine in hand. 😀

  3. This sounds like a lovely book. I think that the dish that restores and makes me appreciate is simple: fresh steamed local asparagus with butter and lemon. Thanks!

  4. Two dishes come to mind. One is a fresh tomato sandwich. A tomato just picked from the garden and still warm, on homemade wheat bread. Or green bean soup, with local farmer sausage and fresh green beans from the garden in summer. So simple and bursting with summer flavors.

  5. Pad thai reminds me of my traveling and helps me introduce my family and relive those travels through the amazing thai flavors.
