French Fridays: A stroll around Nérac (Lot-et-Garonne, France)

Nerac with cloudy skies on eatlivetravelwrite.comThose of you who have read this blog for a while now or who follow me on Instagram will know that we have spent a fair amount of time in France over the past two years. Specifically, in the Lot-et-Garonne in a town called Nérac. I first discovered Nérac in the summer of 2012, when I headed down there to take in a food photography workshop with Kate Hill and Tim Clinch. I think I fell in love the the town there and then.

Fast forward to the summer of 2014 when we found ourselves buying a house there. No, not spontaneously like you read about in books or see in films, this was a very deliberate decision that took months to execute!  A lot of people ask us “Why Nérac?” since we have travelled to so many parts of France in the past. Well, though there are a lot of reasons which I’ll talk about in a subsequent post, I’d say these pictures tell a great deal of the “why”. These were taken on not a particularly sunny day in the summer, yet the town shines.

  1. We live Nerac as well! We have friends who own the Hotel Henri IV, Ann & Julien and kids and Sophie & Edithe at the pharmacy nearby. We might live there too someday.
