Les Petits Chefs make Jamie Oliver’s spaghetti bolognese

We’re back! Though we started out with just a few Petits Chefs this week because of various team tryouts going on, the small group was thrilled to start the term with a perennial favourite – spaghetti bolognese!  But not just any spaghetti bolognese, the Food Revolution version.  Especially when they found out it had bacon in it! “Everything’s better with bacon!”

We practised dicing carrots and celery into even-sized pieces (I was very impressed to see what a great job these guys did!)…

As our sauce bubbled away, we went through the recipe step by step (to make sure we had covered everything!) and cleaned our stations.

Then we rinsed our dishes and stacked the dishwasher. Not glamourous but part of cooking too.

The best part? Sprinkling on the Parmesan…

All the boys were really impressed with their work – dinner in around 45 minutes of hands on time, then you can go and get stuff done (“Homework” I said, yeah – right!) whilst it bubbles away.  This is a great recipe to get kids in the kitchen – some important but straightforward chopping techniques and a meal that most kids I know love to eat. Win. Win.

  1. Mr. Neil was impressed with their work as well – and the results! Your handiwork was my quick lunchbreak today, and supremely tasty. (Kicked up a notch with some hot sauce…) 🙂

Welcome back for the last term, boys.
