I’ve become a big fan of the Flat White and it’s my “go to” treat on the way to work a few times a month (and there are four different coffee shops within a one block radius of my school so I do have a lot of options!). I’m also a big fan of loyalty programs and had been disappointed that Second Cup didn’t offer one. Until now! Second Cup Ltd. this week announced the national launch of Second Cup Coffee Co. Rewards – a free loyalty program with a new mobile app designed to enhance the your coffee experience by providing a simple, fast way to earn points, redeem rewards and receive personalised offers.
The Rewards program allows members to earn points for every dollar spent at Second Cup. To join Rewards, simply download the free Second Cup Coffee Co. Rewards app from the App Store or Google Play, or pick up a card in stores. You can even use the app on your Apple® Watch, (Second Cup Coffee Co. is one of the first Canadian companies to debut an app for the new device!).
Members earn 10 points for every dollar spent and you’ll start earning points simply by signing up – to launch the Rewards program, those who join before May 20, will enjoy a welcome offer of 500 points – redeemable for a FREE brewed coffee, espresso or tea beverage, of any size (yes, I enjoyed my flat white yesterday!). Rewards like a free beverage on your membership anniversary date and other personalized bonus offers, mean you get to enjoy rewards even faster.
Made in Canada for Canadians, the app allows you to:
- Find out when there’s a new promotion, a nearby offer, or a customised offer.
- Pay for purchases directly from the app.
- Top up your card balance with easy reload.

Testing the new Second Cup Rewards
I had the chance to check out the app earlier this week and within about 5 minutes, I was set up with a Rewards account, had loaded my existing gift card balance onto my account and qualified for the free “welcome” beverage. My only slight glitch would be choosing a password. Make sure it’s the exact amount of characters, no more, no less, otherwise the app will keep telling you the passwords don’t match. But once I clued into that, it was really simple. 30 minutes later, I was in my local Second Cup, ordering and paying for my Flat White with my phone. I even got a “Wow – you can pay with your phone here now?” from the customer in the line behind me!
