Why I’d love to try Bellini Kitchen Master

Another gadget huh? Well, yes, kinda. But not to keep…. Just to test and review (oh and maybe win….).

Over on Food Bloggers of Canada, we’re featuring the Bellini Kitchen Master – a new Thermal Blender designed for domestic kitchens which combines the functions of eight appliances in one – and offering bloggers the opportunity to test it for a few weeks and honestly review its functionality.  One lucky blogger will get to keep the machine based on their review posts. The BKM is a thermal blender with a more reasonable pricetag than your more well-known thermal blender (though it’s still quite an investment at $699) and it appears to be quite the multi-tasker.

Apparently this machine can chop, mix, mince, whip, knead blend, stir, cook, fry and steam using the precise temperature control feature and steam set! Ok then.  According to the promotional materials, the BKM “significantly cuts down your hands-on time standing over the stove stirring your custard or sauces and cooks entire meals in the stainless steel bowl leaving only 1 dish to clean afterwards!”  For someone without a dishwasher, this sounds a bit like a godsend… And as someone who is always busy, doing things faster sounds like a dream.

Or does it?

I think I should be chosen to test and review the Bellini Kitchen Master because I am skeptical. Yep, that’s right, I’m the customer this little machine is going to have to work very hard to convince.  I’m not convinced that “You can throw in your vegetables and oil to have them chopped and sautéed before adding your raw meat which will then be cooked perfectly while it mixes with the veggies. While all of this is happening you can be steaming a side dish with the attachment above the bowl!” Also, I am not entirely sure I like the idea of a machine doing something that for me is so often intuitive.  The folks at Cedarlane Culinary are very confident that anyone who tries it will love using it so I think they need to offer me the chance to test it since I’m NOT convinced I will.

Having said this, I have watched a lot of Masterchef Australia this summer and they use the thermal blender machines a lot. As well as the sous-vide machines. Those folks seem to be completely convinced by this new technology and are producing stunning plates of food. Mind you, they are in a competition with severe restriction on their time so perhaps this type of short-cut technology is right for them. But is it right for the home cook? I don’t know.

What do I want to make in the Bellini Kitchen Master?

If I am chosen to review the BKM, here’s a list of recipes taken from the Bellini Addicts Recipe Book – a compilation of home cooks’ recipes from the Bellini Addicts Facebook Page) that I would want to test. Totally shocked that it can make some of these to be honest!

bread
pasta dough
pizza dough
risotto
sponge cake
Anzac biscuits
pavlova
meringue

What do you think? Do you think a machine can make those dishes just as well as I can? Do you think it will be quicker and cleaner working with a “one stop” machine?

What would you like me to make if I get the chance to review the Bellini Kitchen Master – check out the recipe book here and leave me a comment below.

  1. I noticed that too… That they use e thermomix a lot on Masterchef and I was wondering the same thing… Hope you win it.. Can’t wait to see the outcome!

    • I’m so intrigued now I have used the machine to know what the appeal is for folks on the show – I think it’s the “hands off” factor that allows them to do other things at the same time…
