Uncorked (Sydney, Australia)

Last weekend my mum and dad treated me to dinner at Uncorked, the restaurant upstairs at the Union Hotel in North Sydney (thanks!).

A serene, white room above the crazed rugby mob in the lounge downstairs, Uncorked has a short but classy menu (click to enlarge images).

Mains:

Sides:

and desserts:

(can you see where our minds are – we’re all about not having a starter/entrée and saving room for dessert!).

My dad had:

The fish of the day (red snapper), pan fried on butter poached potato with white asparagus sauce, chive oil, roasted capsicum and baby capers.

Mum and I both ordered:

Barossa Valley chicken breast on mushroom and rosemary pudding with broad beans and jus.

On the side, we ordered:

Lyonnais potatoes with duck fat, roast garlic, rosemary and sea salt.

Sautéed spinach with toasted almonds.

For desserts, I chose:

Affogato – Bailey’s, vanilla ice cream and espresso.

and my dad chose:

The cheese platter: truffle infused pecorino, Irish Blue and a creamy Brie.

This was a perfect meal. Thanks mum and dad.
