Happy Birthday Dorie!

Happy Birthday macarons for Dorie Greenspan on eatlivetravelwrite.comIt’s Dorie Greenspan‘s birthday today and the folks from French Fridays with Dorie and Tuesdays with Dorie are celebrating by baking and cooking up a storm in Dorie’s honour.

I couldn’t think of a better French treat to bake for Dorie than macarons – chocolate and, as a nod to the season, pumpkin spice.  But my birthday present to Dorie is not just a pretty picture but also an invitation, so the next time we find ourselves in the same city (Paris? New York? Toronto?) I’d love to show you my method, Dorie!

Actually I am pretty sure Dorie could teach me way more than I could teach her – I mean, this is the woman who is the co-author of many cookbooks including not one but TWO with Pierre Hermé – but it would be fun to bake and chat macarons with one of my great kitchen inspirations wouldn’t it? And, bien sûr, there would be a coupe de champagne, because what’s a birthday without champagne?

Dorie, I hope you have a lovely day and that there’s champagne and cake involved!

  3. Mardi, I think Dorie wants your people to contact her people and make a Macaron Date. Like Cher, I am “on”. Those macarons look beyond amazing. (Your photo is spectacular.) I know this is shameful, but I’ve only tasted macarons (plenty of them) but have never made them. So, whenever your kitchen is available for baking with some Doristas, we’ll be there. What a lovely Post, invitation and tribute to Dorie.
