French Fridays with Dorie: Une pause

Liberte Egalite Fraternite on eatlivetravelwrite.com

It’s makeup week over on French Fridays with Dorie this week – meaning, a week for people who have missed recipes along the way to catch up on one of their choice.

As those of you who have been reading this blog for at least the last 2 years will know, I have not missed one FFWD recipe along the way (and I think I am the only one of the group!). It’s been so much fun but definitely a challenge working the recipes around my hectic schedule and a fair bit of travel. So guess what? I’m taking a break this week. Possibly the only break I’ll get as we work our way through the book – it’s my little vacation gift to myself. I’ve been back from France now for a few days but still reeling in catching up on mundane things like my mail, my laundry, unpacking (and packing again – because I am off again tomorrow on a train trip across Canada!) and the mammoth task of editing my thousands of pictures from my summer. So I figured for once in my life, I’d take the easy route.

If you’re looking for a little “French” from me this week, you might want to check out my Shortcrust Pastry 101 – a step-by-step real time video that takes the fear out of making pastry (it takes less than 10 minutes!).

For some Dorie inspiration, check out what the other Doristas made this week over on the French Fridays with Dorie site.

  1. Welcome back!

After this week, I have one recipe to go and I’ll finally be caught up with you 🙂

Fortunately, next week’s corn is a gentle one to ease back in with.

  2. What you’ve done is amazing! And that you’ve done it while working and traveling and blogging and tweeting and instagraming is even more amazing. Enjoy your time off. There’ll be plenty more recipes and plenty more Fridays. xoDorie

  4. Wow- I am so impressed that you have not missed a single recipe. That is amazing !! And you didn’t even have Nana hand delivering ingredients measured out in little tupperwares (portable mise en place) like I’ve had 🙂 Great job. I watched the video and it was lovely- great music too. And I only now caught up with everyone’s duck posts from last week and yours was hilarious. I was trying to picture you walking outside with the smoking duck and LOL !! And the results looked fab after all the drama. I peeked at more of your great flickr shots and already want to go to back to France. Rest up and enjoy your train trip !!

  5. Wow, you deserve the week off! I am only missing about 10, and most of those were from the few months before I started with the group, so I am definitely in striking distance.

  6. I tip my hat to you and your organizational skills. I was doing pretty well for a while there, but this summer I just couldn’t keep up. Enjoy your well deserved week off.
