Spaghetti with creamy tomato-lemon sauce

paghetti with creamy tomato-lemon sauce with Philly on eatlivetravelwrite.com

It only seems fitting that today, as I (attempt to) arrive in Paris for the summer (it’s a long story involving a 14 hour flight delay), that I am posting a recipe over on the Real Women of Philadelphia website for a pasta sauce inspired by another fabulous trip, this time to Italy.

When we travel, we love to bring back recipes, ingredients and cookbooks from the places we visit so that we can keep the vacation living on even when we are home and this dish is one we discovered and couldn’t stop thinking about so when we returned home, we set about getting the recipe (you can read the story here). We’ve made this recipe a standard on our dinner menu since then (you can see a video of me making it here) and over the years it’s changed and adapted according to what ingredients he have on hand (or not). This latest version has Philly standing in for feta or goat cheese and is a little creamier with less of the sharp flavour a goat/ feta cheese would bring but it really works!

Real all about the inspiration for this dish over on the Real Women of Philadelphia website and get the recipe here.

  1. Mmmmm I love spaghetti- and this recipe looks fabulous (and the video of you making it is too cute!)

I successfully substituted Philly for another ingredient earlier this year – instead of making my strawberry + chocolate stuffed french toast with nutella, I used the new chocolate Philly instead! So good!

Thanks for the chance to win Mardi!

Well, this year I’ve tried to substitute margarine for Philly cream cheese while doing Kraft Dinner… Know what? It was really good!

  3. Looks delicious! 🙂

I have been subbing the Philly chocolate cream cheese wherever I used to use Nutella, and even chocolate almond butter. Tastes much better, and much healthier!

  7. I loove Philly Cream cheese. I have used some in my homemade mac and cheese when I didn’t have enough shredded cheese. It was sooo good that now I always add some cream cheese to this recipe.

  10. I made a sweet nacho dip with green onions, sour cream and homemade chow. Instead of using mayonnaise I substituted herb & garlic cream cheese.
Topped with marbel & crumbled feta.
Baked for 25 mins at 400.. YUMMY !
