Getting creative with croissants

Brunch and croissants – they go hand in hand, right? Well… kinda. I tend to like a little bit of savoury with my sweet on the weekends so when I was charged with creating brunch dishes featuring Sobeys’ All-Butter Croissants for friendly brunch contest with the #loveSobeys gang, I made sure to include a sweet and a savoury bite in the form of these mini bread puddings…

Sweet and savoury bread puddings with croissants for #LoveSobeys brunch smackdownYup, for starters, I propose a Mini Bacon, Egg and Tomato Bread Croissant Pudding and for dessert? A Mini Plum Bread Croissant Baked Custard Pudding.  Want the recipes? Head on over to the Sobeys’ Better Food Blog and if you like the look of them, please leave a comment over there!  While you are there, check out other Brunch Smackdown contenders too.  On October 5th, the post with the most comments will be awarded the title of Brunch Smackdown Champion, and the winning blogger will receive Sobeys gift cards to give away from her own site.  I’m planning on finding a suitable charity to donate half of gift cards to, as we enter the holiday season and there are many more people out there in need of grocery store gift cards than me. The other half, I’ll hand out to random (Canadian) commenters (you?) from the Sobeys’ post as a “thank you” for reading and liking my work!

Disclosure: I am a member of the Sobeys Food Lovers program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation. The opinions in this post, as always, are my own.

Other goodies on the go right now…

* Canadian residents: Did you enter my Optifog glasses giveaway – if you have problems with foggy glasses when you are cooking, this is the giveaway for you! Details here.

  1. Those both look so, so tempting. I liked the sound of the plum one more, but the picture with that crispy piece of bacon poking out of the savory pudding is really drawing me away from the sweet side.
