After meeting Evelyne for drinks and snacks, I went back to the hotel to meet Neil who was coming to join me for the weekend. It was quite late by the time we went out to eat and we weren’t super hungry… We ended up at Les 3 Brasseurs on St Catherine. Definitely not haute cuisine but a jolly pub atmosphere on a cool evening – perfect for a quick bite and some beers.
Did someone say beer? Neil ordered this:
La Belle Province 11,45 $
Une bière spéciale, servie à votre table en bouteille.
Bière ambrée, au sirop d’érable, refermentée en bouteille.
(Amber beer with maple syrup, fermented in the bottle)
(“Living beer” in fact!!! 750mls of it at 11%!)
I opted for the more classic:
La Blonde
Une bière légère et dorée, au caractère fruité et subtil.
Désaltérante, les houblons aromatiques la rendent agréablement amère.
(Light and golden with a subtle, fruity flavour. Thirst quenching with aromatic hops making it pleasantly bitter)
(a great big pint of it in fact!)
For eats, we chose the cool flatbread pizzas they have: Les Flamms « Maison » – Fabriquées sur place. Non ce n’est pas une pizza c’est bien meilleur ! La flamm provient de l’appelation «Flammekueche› plat de la région d’Alsace, France. (Better than a pizza, named for the “Flammekueche” from the Alsace region in France).
We had Poulet Pesto 12,99 $ Poulet, tomates, pesto, fromage parmesan
and La Spéciale Brasseur 12,99 $ Oignons, lardons, champignons, fromage gruyère du Québec râpé.
Definitely not sophisticated but good snacks and drinks. We enjoyed this pub a few years ago and were pleased to see it was still predictably reliable. This chain has recently opened in Toronto but it just doesn’t sound as cool in English (The 3 Brewers) does it???

I love Montreal and haven't been there so long. For years growing up my family and I would go up to Mont Tremblant for skiing and would stop in Montreal on our way home. Such a great city.

Oh I LOVE Montreal. My grandfather grew up there and I always loved going back with him to visit. And the beer? Oh yum, you've made me thirsty now!

haha Les Brasseurs is definitely not a fancy place but good for beer indeed and a gang of friends.
Pretty sure I recall escaping from the cold into this place, warming myself up with a pizza and an icy cold beer, hehe.
The La Belle Province looks especially intriguing. I wish I could get my hands on some of it, because I have never seen it at any of the specialty beer shops around Columbus.
