Before I was blogging

(Did you know??? ELTW is a finalist in the “Best New Blog” category at the Foodbuzz Food Blogger Awards. Click here to vote for me!)

Long before I was blogging, I was travelling and taking pictures of my food. I know I still have a very long way to go in terms of my photography but I thought it was interesting to compare photos from 2005 (when I first got a digital camera) to now. You can see the interests are still the same, hopefully you can see some progression in the photos I am posting these days.

Summer 2005 – Umbria and Tuscany

(that was one special pizza…)

(you know, a typical evening’s apéritif)

(always willing to “take one for the blog” even before there WAS a blog!)

Summer 2006 Paris

(that was a tough summer – very very hot and very difficult demanding MA courses – had to treat myself…)

(err… that would be a Neil meal…)

Christmas 2006 Guatemala, Belize and Mexico

(pumpkin pie for Christmas dinner at La Casa del Mundo)

(checking out some real tacos in Panajachel)

(pláto típico at Casa Santo Domingo, Antigua, Guatemala)

(the best chocolate cake in Belize. Served with “panty ripper” drinks…)

(last night in Cancún. Not all those were for us.)

(can I just say, gotta love Neil for always posing in my pics!!!)

(an interesting plate arrangement in Caye Caulker)

Summer 2007 England, Paris and Cassis

(those would be “train food” shots)

(more supermarket shots)

(well, we were in the region!)

(oh, look – another crème brûlée!)

(and another…)

(and look, that would be a trio de crèmes brûlées…)

(clearly there was a bit of a salad thing going on that summer!)

(that would be a Neil meal…)

And oooh, the desserts:

So yeah, same content, hopefully better execution these days. Still on a steep learning curve, but I HAVE only been blogging since the end of May….

  1. There are too many comments to make about all the food so I'll just say 'mmmmmmmmm'. My sister would be drooling over the Leffe, but I must say I'm strangely enticed to test the panty rippers 😀

I've been meaning to go through all my old photos all pull out some 'pre-blog' foodie shots too.. you've inspired me to get cracking now!

  2. Conor, your sister and I share a passion (Leffe). And I gotta say, those Panty Rippers hit the spot in Belize…I seem to remember settling the bill (the restaurant was attached to our guest house) after two nights and it said something like "16 Panty Rippers". Though ordering them by name from a 12-year-old was a tad cringe-worthy.

And, FOR THE RECORD, I think at least one of those salads was a Mr. Neil meal. 🙂

  3. Conor – you would love them – rum and fruit juice, basically with a splash of grenadine!

    Cheap Ethnic Eatz – sorry!

Neil – I believe most of those drinks were yours!
