So my mum phoned me on Saturday night to ask how the BLT from scratch dinner went which reminded me that whilst I know that the date changed and the participants (eaters) have been informed, I didn’t write about the tomato disaster here.
So when I got home from my trip, I was very disappointed to see that there were:
1. Hardly any tomatoes on our TWO plants and
2. NO red tomatoes (errr as you see above!)

We had originally set the date of the BLT from scratch dinner to be August 21st, a mere 10 days from my return home. There was NO WAY that the tomatoes were going to be even ready for making fried green tomatoes (!) so I was THRILLED to read that Michael Ruhlman had extended the deadline for submitting entries in the BLT from scratch challenge!!!
So we’ve moved the date of the dinner to September 12th – make sure to check in after then to see the results. In the meantime, you can check out a sneak peek here and I will leave you with a closeup of our delicious bacon…

Now I am starting to feel a bit left out with Mardi's reference to "her" bacon and all.
Even "our" bacon is taking the piss a bit much, methinks…
